Policies & Code of Ethics

I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of professional and ethical practice in all my work as a Reiki and Crystal Healing practitioner. The following principles, adapted from the Code of Ethics of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT), guide my conduct at all times. A copy of the full FHT Code of Ethics is also held in my practice folder and is available on request.

Professional conduct

I present myself professionally in both manner and appearance, and maintain a clear distinction between my role as a practitioner and your role as a client. I will not take on work that falls outside my competence, and will refer you to another appropriate professional where necessary.

Professional boundaries

I maintain clear and appropriate boundaries in all therapeutic relationships. I will not form personal relationships with clients that could compromise the integrity of our work together.

Relationships with other professionals

I maintain respectful, courteous relationships with fellow practitioners and other health and wellbeing professionals, and will not make derogatory comments about the work of other therapists. Where I refer a client elsewhere, I do so with care, choosing practitioners of known competence and integrity.

Assessing your needs

I carry out a thorough consultation before any session begins, taking into account any medical conditions, contraindications, or notifiable diseases, and will refer you to your GP where there is any doubt as to whether Reiki or Crystal Healing is appropriate for your current condition. Inner Wisdom works with adult clients; where written consent from a parent or guardian would be required for a client under 18, this is sought before any session takes place.

Confidentiality

Everything you share with me is held in the strictest confidence. I will not disclose your identity or the details of any session to any third party without your explicit consent, except where I am legally required to do so, or where there is a risk to your safety or that of others. I may seek confidential guidance from a peer or supervisor without identifying you by name.

Data protection and record keeping

All client records are stored securely and protected from unauthorised access. Records are retained for a minimum of 8 to 10 years. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in compliance with data protection legislation. Health and safety

I maintain a current risk assessment for my practice environment, reviewed every three months. The treatment space is kept safe, clean, and free from trip hazards. A sheet or blanket is placed between you and any crystals used during treatment, for your comfort and modesty. You’ll be advised of any relevant cautions regarding the crystals used in your session, including any not suitable for contact with water or direct skin contact.

Responsible marketing

I do not claim that Reiki or Crystal Healing can diagnose, treat, or cure any medical condition. Both are offered as complementary holistic wellbeing practices, and do not replace medical treatment. Everything on this website is written to accurately represent the nature of my practice and my level of qualification.

Insurance

I hold current professional liability insurance, through Balens, appropriate to my practice as a Reiki and Crystal Healing practitioner (Professional Liability, Public Liability, Products Liability, and Commercial Legal Protection).

If you ever wish to raise a concern, please contact me directly in the first instance at liz@inner-wisdom.uk. I’m committed to addressing all concerns promptly, fairly, and with respect. Should a complaint remain unresolved, you may refer the matter to the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
